Job Description Summary

Position Objective:

The Power Systems Engineer will consult, design, develop, troubleshoot, and test systems for innovative customer energy management programs, while supporting Sunbelt Rentals Power & HVAC sales and our mission to build a team of technical support people. This team will take inquiries from the field regarding technical issues on stored energy solutions, efficient generator power, sustainable energy equipment and maintain operational excellence as it relates to service department operation in efficient and cost-effective maintenance to Sunbelt equipment. This role will be pivotal in developing a training curriculum and will be tasked with maximizing equipment efficiencies and tailored solutions for customer needs. The Power Systems Engineer will be responsible for working with operations and strategic sales to build support for customers across the Sunbelt network.

Position Responsibilities:

• Prepares electrical construction drawings and documents in accordance with company standards and procedures
• Delivers high quality output for our customers (direct and for salespeople to use)
• Creates detailed design and layout plans of power and energy storage systems
• Performs calculations of electrical load, lighting, wire/cable sizes, installation and coordinates projects
• Performs Electrical Hazardous Area Classification Studies
• Supports construction, including review and input on equipment submittals and RFI's
• Collaborates with Sunbelt Telematics, purchasing and ESG to develop sales programs by way of engineering specific solutions for customers to include specific codes and permitting for each customer facility and/or site
• Occasional field work will be required, which might include occasional international travel

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience plus 3-5 years of relevant experience of stored energy, renewable and/or generator power systems
• PE license
• Current NCEES Record
• Proficiency in CAD
• Proficiency with NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, and other applicable NFPA, IEEE, UL, national, state, and local standards/regulations
• Experience with installation methods and materials of standby, back-up and or critical power systems
• Experience with electrical project design on multi-discipline projects
• Skilled in operations of stored energy systems (batteries), generator controllers and associated switchgear
• Understanding and working knowledge of rental fleet application, performance capabilities and mechanical concepts
• Knowledge of PC programs including Excel, Word, Access, Visio, etc.

Base Pay Range: $63,213.00 - 86,917.60
