Nordex USA, Inc is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in our West Branch, IA office responsible for providing technical support and operational engineering on projects. Ensure that compliance of Nordex products meet local/country requirements including the preparation of compliant specifications and documentation. Assist with electrical project engineering in support of turbine and wind park installation and the design and implementation of appropriate technical solutions for electrical issues as they arise. Accountable for technical matters in respect to wind turbine technology and wind farm operation, specifically electrical installations, and components, wind turbine drive systems, wind turbine controller (low voltage), grid compliance (medium and high voltage), and integration of the Nordex SCADA/CWE system with the BOP substation. Prepare comprehensive special engineering studies and reports; perform special assignments on engineering projects as necessary. Monitor the status of electrical installations to Nordex procedures, national and international standards; recommend corrective actions as needed. Localize wind turbine components and systems with US suppliers for Nordex’ US production facilities, including the preparation of US compliant specifications and documentation. Support Nordex’ US Sales, Project Management and Service Department in close cooperation with Nordex German engineering and International Departments. Support Project Management during various stages of turbine installation, field verification of the installed systems and components as needed. Support Project Management during installation and testing of the turbines at project sites. Manage specifications and plans for wind park SCADA and CWE and coordinate installation, on-site testing and commissioning with equipment supplier.10% travel is required. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience. 5 years of related experience is required. Skills required: 3 years of experience required with the following: Intelligent Electronic Devices including relays and RTUs; Experience with SCADA and HMI design and programing; Troubleshooting, root cause analysis and diagnosis experience of SBG and Siemens Transformers including dissolved gas analysis; Troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair methodologies for Nordex individual pitch control systems; Utilization of power quality analyzers and multi-functional recording system; Commissioning tasks and process of turbine platforms; Experience with IEEE and IEC standards.
