About the role
DNV Energy USADNV Energy USA, Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineer, Solar and Storage to work remotely for our office in Houston, TX.
Job Duties:
- Perform a wide variety of technical tasks applying experience and training in electrical power systems, electronics, controls and instrumentation in support of the design, development and construction of renewable energy projects.
- Evaluate solar and storage technologies with respect to project goals, including modules, DC components, inverters, racking, BESS containers, BESS balance of plant equipment, and medium voltage systems as an independent or owner's engineer.
- Create, organize, and maintain documents associated with projects' basis of design throughout the project life cycle; consider key project risks.
- Review and incorporate electrical studies including ampacity studies, load flow, reactive power capability, short circuit, grounding, arc flash.
- Project management of complex projects; provide timely client communications; coordinate and supervise work by junior personnel, other company divisions, and subcontractors.
- Support proposals including scope of services, schedule, budget, and documentation requirements.
- Develop detailed design packages for utility-scale solar PV and storage systems that meet all contractual, code, and permitting requirements, including plan and elevation drawings, schematics, and calculations.
- Support site assessments and preparation of energy models in cooperation with internal DNV engineering teams.
- This position requires 15% domestic travel. Remote work permitted.
Salary range: $119,330-$136,000/year

About you
Main Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field of study and three (3) years of experience as a Electrical Engineer, Project Engineer, Solar Design Engineer or related role where required experience gained.
Special Skills: Also requires experience in the following:
- Three (3) years in solar or storage/BESS power system engineering;
- AutoCAD or computer-based drafting;
- One (1) year with the US electrical code (NEC);
- One (1) year with IEEE standards;
- One (1) year reviewing construction plans for solar PV utility, DG rooftop, or solar plus storage projects;
- One (1) year supporting Project development due diligence and Project construction related commissioning, SCADA and on-field queries.
