The Association of Old Crows (AOC) is a professional non-profit association that educates, connects, and advocates on behalf of its members and stakeholders across the global electromagnetic warfare (EW) and spectrum operations community. Learn more at www.crows.org.
We are seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Director of Sales & Business Development to shape and execute AOC’s sales strategy, including sponsorships, exhibitions, and industry relationships, with a focus on maximizing revenue opportunities and strengthening engagement across the community. This senior-level position reports to the Executive Director and may be performed remotely or from our headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to maximize sponsorship, exhibit, and advertising revenue.
- Drive immediate diversification of revenue streams by identifying and selling innovative opportunities (including podcasts, webinars, digital advertising, and other emerging formats) while continuing to strengthen core offerings like exhibit and sponsorship sales.
- Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with industry partners, particularly within the defense and technology sectors, positioning the organization as a trusted collaborator and resource.
- Represent the organization at conferences, trade shows, and partner meetings (travel ~30%).
- Collaborate across all departments to deliver integrated, value-driven opportunities for industry partners.
- Build and lead a high-performing sales team to expand the organization’s reach and impact.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform strategy and maintain the organization’s leadership position.
- Leverage data and market insights to inform the development of new products, shape event experiences, and enhance member engagement strategies.
- Set and monitor sales targets in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Requirements
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in sales, business development, or corporate partnerships, ideally within the defense, aerospace, or technology sector.
- Proven record of strategy development and revenue generation through sponsorships, exhibits, or partnerships.
- Demonstrated experience developing and selling multi-media sponsorships or digital advertising solutions (e.g., podcasts, webinars, online campaigns), alongside traditional exhibit and event-based sales.
- Strong background in both direct selling and relationship management.
- Familiarity with event sponsorship strategy and activation planning.
- Understanding of data analytics and client performance metrics.
- Experience in building and managing sales teams.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments with different objectives.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- U.S. Citizen
- Travel required up to 30%.

AOC offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary and performance-based incentives. Final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
